Twin Oaks was a partnership between three friends in the early 2000s. Mark Potter currently manages the farm’s day-to-day operations, but all the families pitch in to help with the work load as needed. Mark says their goal was to create a dairy they believed could be “environmentally sensitive dedicated to animal welfare, and worker friendly while still producing an extremely high-quality product.” In 2013 their farm was certified by Food Alliance for their commitment to sustain at all levels of the farm including their sustainable ecological practices, animal welfare, and safe and fair working conditions for their employees.
Twin Oaks herd comprises a mix of Jersey and Holstein cows, with the Jerseys claiming the majority. Jerseys are known as excellent grazers and produce excellent nutrient -dense milk.
In 2014, Twin Oaks made the decision to transition their herd to certified organic herd status, which will take place over the next 2 years and be completed by the end of 2016Latest Farm News
